The Parkview Symphonic Band traveled to Scribner Middle School to perform at the Indiana Music Education Association Festival & Clinic over the week. Approximately seventy 7th & 8th grade band students performed three pieces for a receptive audience, then received a brief rehearsal clinic from the judge/clinician. The clinician for this year’s festival was the IMEA President, Chris Taylor. In addition to serving as the organization president, Mr. Taylor is also the Director of Bands at Pendleton Heights High School in Pendleton, IN.
The response to the Band’s performance was incredibly well received. At the festival, ensembles receive a rating of either Novice, Emerging, Proficient, or Advanced across 8 different categories. The Symphonic Band received 3 Proficient ratings and 5 Advanced ratings, meaning our band students are exceeding the expectations of their grade level. The hard work and dedication of our students is evident and recognized by not just our friends and family, but other professionals across the State.
