The Parkview Concert and Symphonic Bands traveled to Scribner Middle School to perform at the Indiana Music Education Association Festival & Clinic over the weekend. Approximately ninety 7th & 8th grade band students performed three pieces for a receptive audience, then received a brief rehearsal clinic from the judge/clinician. The clinician for this year’s festival was Assistant Professor of Conducting from Indiana University (Bloomington), Dr. Jason Nam. Dr. Nam’s complete biography can be found at this link. Two other judges were present to give oral and written comments, but did not rehearse with either ensemble.
The response to the Band’s performance was incredibly well received. At the festival, ensembles receive a rating of either Novice, Emerging, Proficient, or Advanced across 8 different categories. The scores and averages from the three judges can be found below. As you can tell, both ensembles are at or above grade level for the majority of the areas they were assessed.

The hard work and dedication from our students is evident and recognized not only by our friends and family, but by other professionals from across Indiana.
